Beginner Classes

Tango is a wonderful dance to learn, and you have plenty of opportunities to get started! You are very welcome to come along to our classes alone or with a partner. We look forward to seeing you soon.

On Tuesdays we teach at Dance Base. Our beginners classes there run in terms. The terms are usually 11 or 12 weeks long. To book, just contact Dance Base www.dancebase.co.uk.

On Wednesdays we teach our Tango Beginners Basics classes. The Tango Basics course is 12 weeks long, but is split into four 3-week modules, so we can accept new students every three weeks. It is best to start at the beginning of a module. If you have already taken some tango classes, you can just drop in to any class.  For full information see Wednesday Classes.

Module start dates for Autumn 2017 are: 6th September, 27th September, 25th October, 15th November, 6th December

Dance Base Classes

Dance Base Classes (Beginner)

[View All Dance Base Classes ]

At Dance Base we teach Beginners and Improvers classes on Tuesdays on a termly basis. Dance Base is Scotland's National Centre for Dance and we are honoured to be able to teach there in their fantastic studios. You can come alone or with a partner.

Beginners - 8.30pm-9.30pm

Each term is usually around 12 weeks long. This is the best way to immerse yourself in the intricate world of this dance. During this first term we explore Tango’s main foundations, teaching you how to move and communicate with your partner, how to understand the music and some of the first structures that the dance will be based on.

Improvers - 7.30pm-8.30pm

The improvers classes really build on the beginners course, adding more types of movements and steps, but also improving how you are moving and dancing with the music and social dance skills. The Improvers courses can be taken more than once as they continue to develop your skills.

Booking

These classes need to be booked by the term through Dance Base. Their telephone number is 0131 225 5525, or you can look online at www.dancebase.co.uk

La Redonda Practica

Without the restrictions of a class setting, Jenny & Ricardo are free to work with each dancer or couple individually on whatever is needed. It is a place where even the most advanced dancers can practice essential basic technique, where dancers can go over class material that was difficult or that warranted further exploration, and where questions are welcome, and mistakes part of the learning process. Beginners are very welcome too.

The practica provides an opportunity for dancers to take responsibility for their own learning experience, with supervision and direction where needed. It offers dancers time and space to gain dance practice in a relaxed environment outside the class, without the rules of the Milonga (social dance environment), and yet while gaining many of the skills that make a successful social dancer.

You can arrive with a theme to work on, or ask us to suggest a direction of practice. All welcome. No partner necessary.
